Our Sarajevo Free Walking Tour is available every day in Spanish, Italian and English.
Firstly, we will make an introduction, telling the most important parts of history and culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its beautiful capital – Sarajevo – a city who was stage of worlds most important events for three times. During the tour you will find out why Sarajevo is called European Jerusalem and see the most important monuments in the Old Town of Sarajevo.
Our first stop, as well as meeting point is Sarajevo City Hall – the most beautiful Austro-Hungarian-era building, one of the symbols of Sarajevo. Beside as the city hall, this building served as National and University Library.
We will go then to the most recognisable landmark of Sarajevo – Sebilj, wooden fountain located on Baščaršija square, also known as Pigeon Square. After that, you will have a real flashback to the 15th century, enjoying unique coppercraft in Kujundzilik street – the oldest street in the city of Sarajevo. Here, we will talk about Bosnian coffee which is still a very importan part of our culture.
One of the most interesting spots of the tour will certainly be medieval caravan saray still testifying the Ottoman influence in Bosnian culture and architecture.
Later on, our guide will take you to the biggest and one of the most beautiful mosques in Sarajevo – Gazi Husrev-bey’s Mosque. Nearby the most beautiful mosque in Europe you will see a unique Clock Tower famous by showing a completely unusual time whose story our guide will certainly not miss to tell you.
After seeing “Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures” sport, you will see the oldest Jewish synagogue in our city and learn more about Jewish community in Sarajevo.
Later on, will continue towards the modern part of Sarajevo where you will find completely different architectural style typical for Habsburg Monarchy. We will see imposing Cathedral and statue of Pope John Paul II who visited Bosnia twice.
Right next to the Cathedral, we will talk about Sarajevo roses. We will also see the imposing orthodox church in Sarajevo – Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos, and, later on, pass by the charming ottoman bazzar – Gazi Husrev-beys Bezistan.
Tour finishes next to the famous Latin Bridge, Franz-Ferdinand˙s assassination site and this incredible story that changed the worlds history.
